5. Use beans to substitute meat. You can do this quite frequently. Beans cook easily in a crock pot and you can put it on low heat to cook all day and be ready for you when you return from work. In fact, it is the USDA recommendation that beans be eaten a minimum of four times weekly. Here is a quick tip for you - if you wash and cover the beans with water, bring the water to a boil, drain off the boiling water and refill with new water, you might be able to avoid gas after eating them.

6. Coastal area fish.  Fish is a very important staple if you live in a coastal area and can be purchased easily on a budget. They can also be caught from rivers and lakes if available and you can save money by doing so.

7. Peanut butter is a popular, excellent and affordable food item for all. It makes great sandwiches and should be preferred over hot dogs. No need for refrigeration with peanut butter and it keeps for weeks.

8. Eat and fill up with foods with high water content. Examples of these are sugar-free gelatin snacks, salads and watermelon.
